LIC taking part in developing French windfarms.

16 August 2017.

LICengineering have been selected as Owners Engineer for two offshore windfarms in France, Noirmoutier windfarm and Le Tréport Windfarm

LIC has ultimo Juli been awarded a job to support Les Eolienne en Mer (LEM), which is a group under the Engie, a major energy supplier in France, on developing the Tender Packages and select the EPCI contractors for Le Treport and Noirmoutier Windfarms.

LIC are at the moment supporting LEM with a novel soil test campaign in Sauchay for the Le Tréport windfarm. The tests are in chalk where little information and full-scale tests has been conducted so far. Therefore, the tests will hopefully lead to more in-depth knowledge about the foundations behavior in the chalk.

62 turbines producing 8 MW per unit will make up a total production of 496 MW as the Noirmoutier windfarm is expected to cover the annual electricity consumption of approximately 790,000 people. The Noirmoutier windfarm is expected to be operational in 2021.

Le Tréport windfarm will be installed at depths of between 5 and 25 meters, covering an area of 82,4 km2 and will have 62 turbines producing 8 MW each just as the Noirmoutier windfarm. The turbines are designed and built by Adwen, a Gamesa and Siemens joint venture. The Dieppe et Le Tréport windfarm is expected to be operational in 2021.
